Breast Lift

If age, pregnancy, substantial weight loss or genetics have left you less than pleased with the appearance of your breasts, it may be the perfect time to consider breast lift surgery.

Whether you have noticed increased sagging in your breasts or feel they have always been a bit droopier than you’d like, Dr. Schleicher can remove the excess skin and tighten the remaining skin to restore a more youthful lift and contour to your breasts. The breast lift procedure, also known as mastopexy, can be performed along with a breast augmentation for patients who have experienced significant loss of breast shape and volume. The placement of breast implants in conjunction with mastopexy can improve size, shape, and profile and may also be helpful if the nipple areolar, pigmented areas around the nipples, are enlarged.

What to Expect

Breast lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under sedation and general or local anesthesia. Although the placement of the incisions can vary depending on your anatomy or desired effect, most breast lifts include incisions around the nipple areolar complex and in the crease underneath the breast. Once the incisions are complete, Dr. Schleicher will reposition the nipple areolar complex higher, remove excess skin, and lift and reshape the breast to a more pleasing contour and youthful position.

Light dressings will be placed over your incision lines immediately after surgery. Any initial discomfort can easily be controlled with oral medication. Your sutures are generally removed after 7 to 10 days. You can expect to resume light activities after 7 to 10 days. You should be able to return to work after 10 days and can expect to see final results within 6 months.

Risks

Deciding if breast lift surgery is right for you and the specific risks involved can only be determined after a consultation with Dr. Schleicher . All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally, while major complications are unusual.
