A neck lift is done on an outpatient basis under sedation and general or local anesthesia. Dr. Stall will make an incision under the chin, behind the ears, or both. Once that is complete, the fat is suctioned out or excised, muscles are tightened, and any excess skin is removed, depending on the patient's needs.
You will be sent home with your chin and neck wrapped in dressings or an elastic sling. Any initial discomfort can be easily controlled with oral medication. You can expect bruising and swelling to disappear after approximately 2 weeks. You can expect to return to wok after approximately 10 days and to see final results of the neck lift after 5 months.
Deciding if neck lift surgery is right for you and the specific risks involved can only be determined after a consultation with Dr. Stall. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally, while major complications are unusual.
