Christine Rausch, MD, FAAD, founder and Medical Director of the Skin Surgery Center of Virginia located in Henrico, Virginia, is pleased to welcome Tassia Kostopoulos, MD, board certified dermatologist and Mohs micrographic surgeon to the practice.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Kostopoulos to the team and expand our practice to include a new location in Midlothian/Chesterfield area, where general dermatology needs are currently underserved. With the growth in the area, having a dermatologist for patients who seek timely access to dermatology care will be a definite plus for community members of all ages,” said Dr. Rausch. “Dr. Kostopoulos trained under me for two years, and I learned we share similar values where integrity, empathy and exceptional quality of care are extremely important to both of us.”
The new office, located within the BetterMed Urgent Care at 6100 Harbourside Centre Loop in Midlothian, will open on October 1, 2018. Dr. Kostopoulos will treat adults and children for issues related to dermatology, including acute rashes, eczema, psoriasis, acne, rosacea, mole removal, warts, conditions of the hair and nails, and skin cancer screenings.
“The field of Dermatology attracted me by the unique opportunity to treat patients of all ages, whether it be for a sudden eruption, a long-standing chronic skin disease or a surgical intervention,” notes Dr. Kostopoulos.
“I’m an only child who grew up in a small family which instilled in me the importance of the family dynamic. Our social circles were small, but we knew each and every family member. It is my goal to use that foundation to provide all facets of general and surgical dermatologic care to the Chesterfield and Midlothian area. It is my privilege to care for the needs of each family member in our journey to a lifelong relationship.”
At the Skin Surgery Center of Virginia’s main office in Henrico, Dr. Kostopoulos will also offer skin cancer screenings, care and treatments, including Mohs micrographic surgery. Dr. Kostopoulos completed an additional year of specialized training in the competitive fellowship of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System under her esteemed mentors, Christine Rausch, MD and Algin Garrett, MD.
